Welcome to Deadwood

We are dedicated to repurposing fallen trees and transforming them into guitars that tell a story.

We make guitars to order based on what you want your story to be.

Our Origin

Deadwood Guitar Company was created from the passion and love that the company’s owner, Jason Booth, has for music and woodworking. As a previous trim carpenter, Jason fell in love with the beauty and character of North Georgia’s local woods. After realizing how many trees in North Georgia fall without a purpose, Jason found a way to combine his passions of music and woodworking by starting Deadwood Guitar Company.

Jason started to build guitars as a hobby in 2004 and opened Deadwood in 2011. Since then, Deadwood Guitar Co. has become a world wide brand. Located in Lexington, GA, Deadwood Guitar Company has built guitars for the novice to the professional artist.

Our Mission

At Deadwood, we re-purpose fallen trees or ones that have to come down into something remarkable. A tree that might have ended up as firewood, instead is transformed into a beautiful instrument creating music for years to come and a family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation.

From rough lumber to refined instruments, we pride ourselves on shaping, molding and hand crafting every piece with passion and soul. We define our guitars by the way they sound, their distinctive tone, overall warmth and natural beauty. Including, their characteristics such as grain, figure and color variations. We strive to create guitars that are authentic and sustainable as possible.

Luthier Jason Booth built Dead Wood Guitars on a simple idea: work every day towards improving and perfecting the craft of hand building custom guitars. Utilizing wood from dying local trees. He believes firmly that when a tree is taken down, it is destined to be more. Dead Wood gives these trees new life. I can say with certainty that without Jason Booth and Dead Wood Guitars, DT Productions would not exist today. 5 years ago, Jason let us into his life and allowed us to film a documentary following a guitar from the tree to the stage. Through this opportunity a young and hungry DT team saw the Chispa inside of Jason. His desire to get better everyday, his passion and complete immersion in his craft. A feeling we know all to well at DT. It was a pleasure to spend a few nights filming with Jason recently. The improvements he continues to make on his guitars is mind blowing. Each guitar is one of a kind, a truly unique piece of art. Jason is an inspiration for DT, and a lifelong friend.
